Client description: A global manufacturer of chemicals
Practice area: Strategic Positioning and Planning
Geographic scope: US and India
Industries involved: Chemical
Services applied: Strategic positioning; corporate strategy
Business challenge: This chemical manufacturer was an entrepreneurial company growing rapidly in different geographic and product markets and needed a clear strategy forward.
Methodologies: Geo Strategy Partners facilitated a strategic positioning and planning session in an offsite location near one of their recent overseas acquisitions in which the senior executive team was challenged to review their entire business model and strategy from the perspective of the market place, the product and service positioning, and the core competencies of the different operations.
The result: It was ultimately determined that the chemical division operated under a very different business model from the technology division and the company was ultimately and successfully separated into two distinct business units. The companies have been able to grow more strategically as separate business units and have since expanded into additional international markets.
